We had such a nice weather today that right after work/school, we drove to the beach near Portsall. At about 25km away from Brest, you'll find many small secluded sandy beaches where it is nice to chill-out after a hard day's work.

Here is a view of the entrance of Océanopolis aquarium. Océanopolis is the ultimate day out for anyone who has an interest in the sea. It has over fifty aquariums with thousands animals like jellyfish, seals, penguins, sharks...

Baïkal Cafe

The Baïkal Café is a vodka bar located on Glasgow street in the Saint-Martin area. I've not been in yet, but I always enjoy looking at its painted shutters when it's still closed early in the morning.

Yesterday we drove to Pointe de l'Armorique to enjoy the view over Brest from the other side of the bay.

This poster invited people to celebrate gardening in the district of Pontanezen this week-end. The celebrations included live music, picnic, a plant market and other garden-related activities. I especially like the way this veggie basket has been reused to frame the poster.

Today we went to Le Conquet which is located about 25km west from Brest. It is a nice fishing port. The sky got really dark but it did not rain!

We went shopping today in the city centre. We had a break at the merry-go-round to the greatest pleasure of our 4-year-old son.

The "Abeille Bourbon" is a rescue and deep-sea salvage tugboat. It helps boats to navigate safely off the Brittany coasts.

This picture was taken from the Iroise bridge driving south to Quimper. You can see a partial view of the Albert Louppe bridge which stands parallel to the Iroise Bridge. It is now mainly used by pedestrians and bicycles as the Iroise bridge has replaced it for traffic.

I took this picture somewhere along yesterday's pathway. This carved beam stands over a well, apparently dating from 1792. It also shows two symbols of Brittany: the ermine tail on the left and the spiral triskele on the right.

I live in the northern part of Brest called Lambézellec. In this area, there are many pathways that are very nice for walking, biking or jogging.

The fountains on Siam Street

Summer events 2008

As mentioned on this poster, two major events will take place in Brest this summer:

- the start of the Tour de France cycling race on July, 5th

- the international maritime festival Brest 2008 from July 11th to 17th
